HIRE DEPOSIT
Hire Excess Deposit
When you hire a motorhome from Roam N’ Roost you will need to pay an excess deposit. This is dictated by our insurance company and differs between our motorhomes. The excess deposit is based on the age and value of the motorhome but can also change depending on the driver circumstances. Our who can hire page covers this in more detail. An additional excess of £500 is also charged when taking pets in our vans that allow them.

The excess deposit is taken when you collect your motorhome and is a preauthorisation on a credit or debit card. This means we just place a hold on your card and don’t physically take the funds. It also means you need to have your actual credit card with you on collection. Contactless or apple pay isn’t an option. If you don’t have a card or forget to bring it, we can take the excess deposit by bank transfer also. Note we can’t accept cash as our insurance insists on a traceable deposit for your cover to be valid.
In the event that damage is caused to the vehicle, we would hold your entire deposit until costs are established and then deduct the amount required to put the vehicle right again.

Excess Insurance
Some of our customers choose to reduce their risk by taking out a third party hire excess insurance. This can put your mind at ease especially with our newer vehicles where we need to take a higher excess deposit. This type of insurance would reimburse you if we needed to keep your deposit for any damage. It can cost as little as £27 for 7 days cover and we would recommend our customers consider taking it out. One such company that our customers have used in the past is icarhireinsurance.com but there are others, and we would always advise you shop around and get the best policy for you. It is important you understand what is and isn’t covered as not all eventualities are.

Our Deposits
Our standard excess deposits for our current fleet of vehicles are below. Do read our who can hire page to see more details as they can increase depending on driver circumstances.
